The I/O error occurs when trying to transfer certain files (most files transfer from the hard drive fine) but on larger files, there's a higher probability for an I/O error to occur, and I can't pull the file from the drive!
The external drive is a WD Passport 250GB, which I had opened up, put into my laptop, and put my 160GB Hitachi 5400RPM drive inside the WD case. It plugs in, and is powered, and writing to the drive is flawless (the drive isn't that old), but pulling files from the drive varies.
Could this be a bad HDD problem? Could this be an interface problem, something in the WD Passport's SATA to USB 2.0 connector, or could it be something as trivial as a flawed USB cable?
