Coming up as $109.99 for me.

If this hits $86.99, can the drive be yanked and used as an internal drive?

Yes, I've done this with several of them, I think the only downside of this, is sometimes they are 5400 rpm drives, but since I used them in a media pc, it really doesn't matter to me.

I like the maximum data transfer rate on the page. 5000 megabytes per second. I'm going to have to call the bull crap police on that statement.

I have a WD 4TB that I use over USB 2.0 connection with my Windows Media Center. Works great, even with that slower interface. As soon as the warranty is up, I will probably pull the drive and install internally with a fan blowing over it. I do have a little USB fan blowing on the external case and I haven't had any trouble. Can record three programs from HD Prime and watch another all on the same drive.

It's a typo. Should say 5000 megabit as stated on the overview tab. That's just the theoretical burst speed allowed by USB 3.0, not the maximum sustained transfer rate.

What is the local site?

Have a 2.0 external and a 3.0. The speed difference when actually moving large amounts of data extremely noticeable, couldn't imaging using a 2.0 as my main backup drive anymore.

Frys has the 4tb drive for $89 - I think I'll go for that.
