Why won't these "bad" sectors remap? Are they just "phantom" bad sectors?
I do a surface scan, I get 14-15 "Pending" sectors. I do an NTFS full format, instead of getting "Remapped", the "Pending" goes down to zero, and the HDD shows "Health Status: Good" in CrystalDiskInfo.
Then I do a surface scan, the "bad" sectors show up again, in the Pending for SMART. Do an NTFS Full Format, the Pending go away, and Remapped stays at zero.
Weird, eh? So, should I trust this drive with data? It would be used as a secondary drive. I can imagine putting OS files on it, and having it show "bad" sectors in the middle of system files though.
Edit: I'm using a dual-drive Ultra Products SATA HDD dock via USB3.0, to my ASRock Deskmini, through an Orico USB3.0 hub. So these could be USB errors showing up, possibly.
I could mount the drive internally as SATA, but that would be a slight PITA, to get into the case and back out again. I've got a bunch of HDDs to test, and I thought that this testing methodology was solid.

I went looking for a firmware update, but ultraproducts.com doesn't seem to exist any more.

Cirago sells this same dock, for $80 (!), but they too, don't have any firmware updates.
