I ran Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic on my Western Digital Green Drive and at the same spot, 1902625023 of 1953525167, it pretty much stops. With just 3 minutes left it hits that number and then stops and the time left ticks up slowly. But it won't go past that number.
??? :'(
On prior occasions where that software found problems (with other drives, not this one), it finished the scan. But here, it just won't finish it, so I don't know what the problem is. I did leave it overnight and it was stuck on that spot for eight hours. The process has been run three times on this drive. Each time I had to force a shutdown to get it to stop.
That drive is 3/4 full and I have never had any trouble with it, but much of it is archival, so files I don't often access.
Recommendations? What should I do now? No idea.
UPDATE: Well, the last try was the charm. It finished and attempted to repair the bad sectors. It failed.
Should I RMA it? I imagine at the very least I should call Western Digital support.
