WD Caviar Green 1TB

Man, storage has become so cheap. I'm tempted to pick up a 1TB drive, but I can't imagine ever using most of that space. I have a 160GB drive for my media that's only like 1/3 full. 😛

Let us know how the packaging is.

Will certainly do. Main reason I tend to go with Newegg is because of their Memphis warehouse, which means overnight delivery for me. I don't ever recall having packaging issues with other OEM drives shipped from that warehouse.

That's cool. the rest of us have had a mixed bag of shipping quality. Sucks to need your warranty.
I went with ZZF for two a couple of days ago.

Got the drive yesterday (ordered on Friday). The OEM drive was wrapped in a heavy layer of bubble wrap surrounded with the heavy paper wrapping in a small box. The drive did move around just slightly when shaking the box. I've not had a chance to test it but I was satisfied with the packaging.

rip all your dvds and data discs to .iso files. if you have more than a handful, thatll fill it up quick

Is there a WD "I hate the Earth" version that is super fast, but sucks lots of energy? I want speed! Thanks tho OP, I'm in for one.

I ordered one of these a few weeks ago when it was $89 w/FS as a one-day Shocker. Mine shipped from TN and was packed very well - two layers of heavy bubble wrap, secured with tape and packed in a fairly large box with a lot of crumpled kraft paper. I see complaints about how they pack OEM drives. Mine arrived in perfect condition and I'm not sure how they could have made it any better.

The past year I've ordered about 50 or more HD's through NewEgg. My only complaint is on orders of only 1-5, they have a layer of bubble wrap around the drive, but nothing in the box to keep the drive (wrapped up) from flying back and fourth.

When you order 10 and more at a time they come in the styrafoam holders they get from the manufactures, so they are nice and secure.

That being said I have only warrentied about 3 for DOA through Newegg in this past year.

I wish I could afford to buy 10 or more at a time without feeling guilty about spending that much. 🙁

green = slow

have one of these drives in the acomdata external (no fan, aluminum cooling only case), the spinup/cataloging takes awhile when used in conjuction w/ the wd digital media player
