WD Caviar Black 1TB - 500GB platters?

Does anyone know if WD has any plans in the near future to introduce a 500GB-platter version of its Caviar Black 1TB drive?

I wouldn't expect any other 1TB flavors to show up from WD. Their 1.5TB drive is 3 platters. And with their new tech announcement about the advanced sectors, I expect huge drives to start popping out from them when they finish it for production.

I note your comment regarding the 3-platter 1.5TB Caviar Green. Since I'd use the disk as a system drive, a faster one is preferred.

Would you happen to know of any high-performance 2-platter 1TB drive?

Well, simply put, if performance is what you want, the Samsung F3 spinpoints have been beating everyone. I'd get that one if you want performance. It beat the WD Black.
