WD 80gig/8megC with 8IHXP

I am using a WD 80gig Special Edition HD with windows 2k SP3. On Norton Bench Mark and Sandra I get low scores as compared to other benchmarks. I see other benchmarks with the Gigabyte 8IHXP are low also compared to similar setups, like a Dell 8200 computer and Asus Mbs . Is it due to the motherboard IDE controller?

Are you using the Promise ATA or RAID or the i805 IDE connections?
