Hi....
Ok I' haven't had obvious observable problems related to this, I'm happy with my PC performance...but of course, more is always better and wondering if I'm missing out on something.

So the problem is I'm concerned that some cache setting might be disabled or having a problem.

What made me think this:
Bootvis (A MS program that makes your computer boot faster by optimizing where stuff is located etc)
Bootvis said that "write caching" was disabled

SiSoft Sandra...The file system benchmark, it scores 22,000 something, when it shows on its comparisons that a 80gb,7200rpm,ata100 should get like 29,000

On Sisoft drive information it has info under all the parts, but it has a heading for Disk cache, and nothing under it.

I don't know if this has something to do with the disk cache in the drive itself, or the disk cache in ram that Windows uses.

Thanks for any advice.

Do a defrag on your hdd and you'll see inprovements. SiSoft does not really give you real world results.

Try using HDTach 2.61 or ATTO.

FWIW I get 44K+ on Sandra 2002 Sp1 with dual D740x "L's" in raid0 with a 64K stripe.
