WD 750GB Black failing, need new drive recommendation for immediate replacement!

750GB WD Black purchased Sep 2011.

Multiple utilites reporting errors so I plan to purchase a new drive today and looking for recommendations. I will go with a 750 or 1TB drive.

Seagate drives are cheaper, but I've always been a WD guy. This is the first premature WD drive failure I've had but the Blacks seems to have more problems than most (but is that because there are more in use?).

Yea, just realized they cross-ship the Blacks.

Called WD support and was on the phone for < 3 minutes and have a new drive coming. A++ for WD support.

However, nervous about HDD crashing before new drive arrives. Also nervous about the failure rates of WD Blacks.

Backups. Blacks are not any more failure prone than any other drive out there atm. I have several the are approaching 4 years old now.

Everything is backed up, so I guess I'll hold off on purchasing a new drive unless I go with an SSD for the OS.
