My Sam's has some of these on the shelf but the price is $139. What's the trick to getting them at the $84 price?

They are discounted in some areas, unfortunately not mine... if yours are ringing up at $139 then you aren't in the 'discounted areas' either...

You should put this post somewhere else like How-do...
BTW $85 deal, I think it's now $105

Did you guys miss the huge thread on this that was already posted ? Most places have already run the whole string of clearance prices on these and since sold out. Do a search and you'll find some details on how the deal worked.

I managed to get in on this deal last week at $85 each. They were out at the Sam's nearest me as well. The way I did it was:

1) I found the nearest Sam's to me that still had them in stock (at any price).
2) I scoured the states looking for a Sam's that had it at $84.91. This was no easy task. I know I searched well over a hundred stores and it took a couple of hours. Most locations no longer had them and those that did, were charging more. I wish I could tell you which store I found them at but I don't even remember which state.
3) Anyway, after finding them for 85, I added them to my cart. Mind you, this was on the other side of the country.
Note: In order to use Sam's Club online "Click and Pull", you must hold a minimum of $250 secured with a cc, and you only have 72 hours to pick up your merchandise. Needless to say, 3 hard drives at this price fits the bill quite nicely.
4) Last but not least, the option is offered on the Sam's Club site to pick up your order at a store closer to you. This is where you need to choose the store closest to you that actually had them in stock (at any price) because they don't actually transfer the merchandise, they just sell it off the shelf. I finalized my order, printed out my confirmation, just in case they gave me a hard time and picked them up the next day.
Another Note: They will charge you (I think) 5%, if you don't pick up your order. I'm not sure what would happen if you held $250 worth of merchandise and cancelled all but one HD upon arrival at the store.
Final note: They simply pulled up my order in the computer from my Sam's Club member number. There was no question of the price. The cashier didn't even have to make a price adjustment. The price was dictated by the circumstances at the time I placed the merchandise on hold.
I hope I helped. Good luck to anyone still looking. If it helps at all, I'm pretty sure I checked the entire states of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, W. Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, N. Dakota and I think I may have found them at $85 in Texas. I think I may have checked Virginia, S. Carolina, Illinois. Like I said- It wasn't easy, but it did pay off in the long run since some of the Sam's were selling these as high as $159.

Mufasa,

good effort in detailing how it could be done to get the 60 gigger at the lower price, but the problem now is that, the hard drive is no longer available under Sam's click and pull. in fact, the whole category of "computer accessories" has been pulled.

Well, I found the 60gb 5400 for $104. But I don't know if that's a real hot deal or not. They're $130 on pricewatch and I'd have to buy $250 worth.

Another thing, my local Sam's only has one of them. Wonder what they'd do if I "ordered" three but they only had the one. Would they relax the $250 minimum?

Opinions?
