maybe you can but for rebate purposes you need to make sure you purchase date falls within the rebate guidelines. Just in case stocks are low you can get you drive b4 and then go back and have customer service take it back and resell it to you so you have the right date on the receipt.

I have owned several Western Digital hard drives, in fact it is the only drive I have owned as of yet. From 1.6GB to 40GB, I have never had any problems. They are fairly quiet and can keep up with the other 7200RPM drives.

I got the ATA100/7200RPM drive for $180 or so, and no CD-Rs, so this is a good deal.

Of course hard drive preferences vary. There are always some problems with any brand, but from my experience they have been reliable.
