This was a deal I was hopeing would have passed last week. I remember seeing it over a month ago. If it's the same ... Buy the hard drive get a mail in rebate. If you buy the drive and the memory together you get another rebate form to send in to repay you for the memory. Some time early last year there was a similar deal with purchasing a zip cdrw and zip 100 drive together and get the zip 100 drive free. What I did and worked with no problem - I purchased the zip cdrw and the zip 100 mailed in both rebates (one for 30 off zipcd and 50.00 for buying zip100 at same time). The lucky thing about it was that they only required a copy of zip100 upc code. A few weeks later I returned the zip100 drive to BB b&m and got my refund.
Basically -paid 279.00 for them together -80.00 mail in rebates - 100.00 bucks for returning unopened zip drive. So got the zipcdrw for a little over 100 bucks. You could pull off some deals like these. If the memory rebate does not require any destruction of the Hard drive box and if you are patient, buy them both send for rebates and later return unopened Hard Drive. May want to check store for Details on what is required for rebates.

As for now I'm happy with my WD 45G ATA66/5400.
Been working well so far with Studio DV.
PII 350
STB Velocity 4440
128MB PC100 Kbyte (119.00 after rebate -this past sun at BB)
Most I've captured full quality -about 1hr footage
My computer may not kick serious a** but does the job if you KWIMean

Only the experts used IBM drives, and they look just like IBM drives, because I own a 27.3g WD Expert (god bless value america) and it looks just like an IBM. But this is no more, WD has their own 7200 ****y drives now.

the memory for 79.99
you get 30,00 rebate from wd and 79.99 mail in rebate for the memory.
does not say who's rebate is from (KByte or Bestbuy)
I don't have that much time to follow the forum

DIGME,
Do you have a sku# or product# ??
I was thinking of going to best buy and doing a price match.
159.99 - 30.00 rebate = 129.99 not a bad deal
then buy the memory and get the rebate for that
what do you think?
or was the 159.99 with rebate??
