Nah this is refursbished or something. I wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole.

The drive will die at any moment. I rather get brand new in box sealed.

Fry's has WDC Black 500GB for 69.99 but I don't think that is in box sealed. hmmmm

eww 6299020 /cringe. those things get returned all the time :D, probably one of the worst 2tb drives we sell. if you're gonna get one pick up the 3 year instant exchange on it ($20). there's a reason WD has enough refurbs to sell them @ retail stores for a reduced price ya know :). normal price is 109. if you really want 2TB and want a drive that isnt complete crap, wait on the hitachi 2TB to go on sale again for 108, goes on sale every couple weeks or so. still prone to issues (all 2TB drives are), but we have had better luck with them

I saw a refurbished WD20EADS for 80 bucks at MWave. Refurbs are a no go?

The drives are advertised as recertified (not refurbished) with 90 day warranty.
I suspect that drives are returned because the customer cant get them to work when in fact nothing is wrong with the drive itself (eg, operational procedure error). Probably all that happens is WD merely tests/verifys the returned drive.

An advantage of buying such a drive would be that it has been put thru the gears and has thus cleared early failure mode.
