thats crazy cheap, the only thing thats odd is a 1yr warranty (although it sez dealer direct?) if they're not @%(#ing with us this is holy-hell-hot.

OEM WD's are warrantied for 3 years from WD.

i just read all of there reseller rating reviews.
It sure sounds like a fly-by-night company.
I'd even be afraid to buy a pack of gum from them

They don't ask, they will just ship the Tic Tacks. If you wanted gum, you will have to return it for a 15% restocking fee.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think there was much in it between the speed of a bridged and a native SATA, at least with the current range of SATA drives?

Anyway I'm after one for backups, SATA being hot-swapable (at least when I can persuade Windows to keep its grubby little file handles from locking stuff on it), so the speed is not a biggy.

NCQ can make a fairly huge difference, which this drive doesn't support.

Just for reference:
Me and a bunch of other geeks I know have had bad problems with the first gen WD 250GB SATA drives. I had two and the first went bad within a month, the 2nd only lasted 5 months.
Same with most of my buddies.
Warrenty is nice, but I don tlike a drive dying inside of 30 days.
