WD 2500KS HD noise

I have a new Western Digital SATA II WD2500KS hard drive, and it produces a loud, high-pitched noise, as well as as just seems to have a rather loud normal operating volume. I thought newer HDs were supposed to be quieter? Does anyone else have one of these drives, and is it this annoyingly loud? I'm wondering if I should try to RMA it. However, I ran WD diags and it passed, so I don't know if they will let me without more ammo.

A loud, high-pitched noise on a new drive is ammo. If it keeps it up, RMA it. Send WD an email as well.

Yes, its supposed to be quieter. RMA it asap.

It shouldn't make an audible noise. In fact I cannot hear mine at all. Same model

Thanks guys! Sounds like this is definitely not normal behavior. I'm gonna try to get it RMAed.
