WD 1TB Caviar Black Edition.

I'm setting up this new system and having difficulties with WD 1TB black edition Hdd.
In BIOS, when it's set to use SATA RAID/AHCI mode, the computer fails to dectect it (Using SATA port0-3 Native or Legacy mode doesn't have any effect.)
When SATA RAID/AHCI mode is disabled, the computer does detect the drive and is set as slave drive. However, I want to use it as a ACHI drive and I don't like the idea of using a defective drive.

The only concern is that I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. Modern SATA drives doesn't need to have jumpers set, does it? or is this drive unique in its weird way?

Any input would be appreicated.
Thanks.

EDIT: BTW, SATA ports on board works fine as I've tested them with other drives.

I've tried another drive and it works fine as it's supposed to.
One thing I don't understand is why this drive works in IDE mode when it fails in ACHI mode.

Does the Bios Fail to see drive or does it just fail boot to Windows??

If it just fails to boot Windows you have to reinstall Windows it in ACHI mode

I had lost of problems switching

You may have to slip stream drives on to Windows CD if you cant load Windows on HDD

Google "Nlite slipstream drivers" its a free app and will load ACHI drives on to CD it did not work for me to use F8 to load drivers before Windows install

Here is a How To Slipstream
