Dell has the drive for $189.00, link.

They currently have 20% off all dell branded items, but there is a coupon code out that expires 8/25 that gives 25% off all dell branded items(*cough* bensb*rgains *cough*). 189 - 25% = 141.75. Dell also currently has free shipping on all items over $99.

This is a pretty good deal for anyone who is looking for a quality drive. These drives come OEM and have a 1 year warranty and include an ATA/133 cable I believe. Now I just need to decide if I'm going to order one or two:p

Newegg currently has this for $166, also with free shipping. And with newegg, you get a 3 year warranty. Just a heads up.

This is a good deal considering it's $141 w/ free shipping & no tax.

BTW, Free shipping has worked for me on item under $100.

The Dell 80GB Hard Drive, 7200RPM came to $86.25 shipped after the 25% coupon.

doesnt seem to work :( Seems there is already a 10% coupon thing applied to the it, making the 25% one not work.

You need to find the OEM 120GB "DELL" drive not Retail Western Digital. Simply search 120GB and you'll see it.

Actually I orderd 4 of these "OEM" drives last time arround and all 4 checked out at Western Digital's website with 3yr warranty. So it is a great deal for what you get. I orderd these a month ago so I am not sure if they are still shipping out the 3yr drives so your mileage may very. Anyhow I love mine!

Yep, I bought 2 OEM drives, and both serial #'s checked out with 3-year warranties with WD. So, save a few bucks and buy from Dell.

These are excellent drives, by the way.

Thanks for the heads up, ordered myself a drive :)

Only one question though...although this is Dell Oem 120GB, are they really the special edition WD Drives we've all been hearing about? If not...maybe I should cancel the order and get it from newegg?

If it is the 8MB cache one, then GG great deal :)

How will I know that this really is the WD HD and not some other brand. Is there anyway to check this up.

Thanks Micael

I don't believe any other hard drive manufacturers have a 120GB HD out that has 8MB Buffer... does anyone know?
Otherwise it must be a Western Digital... ;)

Yes this is a western digital.

I have heard that seagate will be releasing a SATA drive with 8 megs cache in the near future.

Nobody else makes 8MB buffered IDE drives right now.

These are wayyy b1tchin' drives! I've got a pair in RAID 0, and they kick @ss for read/write speed. Very good for storing all your pr0n, too! :D:D:D

The free shipping doesn't come out at first, it will say like $10 for shipping and then when you go through the ordering process you get free shipping so disreguard it

that's because the price before the coupon you used was over $100. discounts are thrown in last

Any reason why after I put in the discount and it discounts the shipping my total comes to $161.02? Not a terrible price, but it's not $141.75 :D

I got in on this deal saturday ... called up DELL to ask about the warranty and the CSR told me it was sold out and could be substituted with a WD oem version at 156 a piece using the Dell 25% coupon which I ok'd and asked him to send me an email receipt ... the next day I checked my email and it shows 415$ for 2 I ordered ... WTF ... I called up Dell to find out the CSR wasnt working that day and the other CSR's couldnt help me .... they just asked me to call him back on monday ... I figured I'd write him an email stating what he screwed up ... he emails back the next day that he couldnt do anything and told me to call Customer Service.

I did so and was placed on hold .. during the meantime ... I was searching Dell for the model# of the WD hard disk to find out it was running at cost of 187$ labelled as a Weekend Special ... another wtfness with the dumb CSR .... Customer Service finally gets to my call and said I would be reimbursed but not definitely cuz the CSR used a Dell coupon on a non-rebadged product ... I also complained about the CSR quoting me the incorrect price as I wasnt able to find any other WD 120gig drive at the cost of 207$ ... I asked her what if I dun get re-imbursed and the drives have been formatted and running ... If I return them back for a refund ... will I get charged 15% for restocking fee ... she said she dunno ... pissed me off so much I told her to cancel my order and she asked y so she can place as reason for a renigged order.

I was so aggravated with stupidity the whole day but luckily I came across outpost.com and they had an even better deal at 120$ for a 100gig 8mb cache version ... even if it is on back order i dun care ...

Hehe, no kidding. $133 shipped with tax for me. People were ridiculing the guy for calling it the deal of the year. Four months later and nobody can touch that price.
