wConnecting my MacBook Pro to an FP241 via HDMI - can it be done?

I have MacBook Pro 13" (latest model) and a 24" BenQ FP241 LCD with a HDMI port. I'd like to use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to drive the display at the maximum (1200 x 1920) resolution. However, when I connect it to my display via my el-cheaptastico eBay Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, 1200 x 1920 is not an option, and if I try to select any resolution higher than 720p it flickers like crazy. Do I need a better adapter? Or is this just my MacBook being stupid?

I would say better adapter. Dynex or MonoPrice.

It sounds like you put your monitor in vertical mode?
