I'm digging around the house trying to find spare hardware to get up and running :) I just got an i5 6400 in an old busted Dell Inspiron going. It's pretty slim choices after that though.. next choices are Phenom I, or Bulldozer/Piledriver stuff.. or a really old 1st generation i7 laptop that is probably missing the power supply (quad core/8 thread though!).

Well, my feee-dc stats say I have the biggest update this time around. And we seem to be holding our lead.

As for bunkers, I think we may be all-in running open, no bunkers, but I could be wrong.

Well, I may have a few small ones yet to drop. Bunkers that is...o_O

I also have another laptop to throw into the mix. If I can find it? I really need to clean up....

Edit: Found it, though one of the floppies is a bit loud, and I think I need to see the Chiropractor. Thing is heavier than I remember.

Turbo on this baby is like 6 MegaHurtz!

It's good to be a little part of this:

Volunteers tested 15 trillion signatures for Mapping Cancer Markers project
In this update, coinciding with the 17th anniversary of WCG, the research team summarizes the contribution of all volunteers to each type of tumor and signature size that Mapping Cancer Markers has studied so far. [...] At the time of this report, the volunteers analyzed about 800 million work units.

2021_11_mcm1_figure1.png

A work unit will test signatures of a specific size (number of biomarkers) against its dataset. Added together, World Community Grid members have tested about 15 trillion signatures, a number that would have been unimaginable to test without your support.
(See the article for some more info and graphs.)
Our next step will be to evaluate how the different composition of sarcoma signatures affect their predictive ability.
We are grateful to everyone who is supporting Mapping Cancer Markers, and all the important projects on World Community Grid.
If we are celebrating the WCG 17th anniversary it is only because of your dedication.
Thank you!

1d14h in, we just exceeded 100,000,000 WCG points... if that's of any significance.
5d9h+ are left to. :-)

Edit: Hmm, "left to"... what to? I think I wanted to type "left to go".

Mark, you might suggest to the Docs no more holes if they can help it :) Or at least no new holes to fix the recent holes.

Hope the procedure is a success!

If the super glue is the problem they might try Gorilla Glue. I have used it many times and seems to work well.

And the final verdict from a doctor that I hate "deal with the bleeding and problems for a month, it will eventually heal."

So I am going home soon. And more more glue of any kind, just a pile of bandages. No sutures, no cleaning, nothing.

"Deal with it" is what he said. Asshole scumbag, he needs his license revoked.

I screamed loud enough. Overnight at the hospital until they re-evaluate.

Stay safe! And hope you get well and home soon. I know I don't sleep well for a night or two away from my own bed!
Also thinking of you and your air pressure equilateral levels.
Hope you find this story funny! If not blame me ;). Your previous surgery made me think of this, so blame the past? And giants!

Unbelievable. That's a real philanthropist, wow... License? Maybe he's a butcher posing for a doctor...

Good! Hopefully, this time they'll remember their Hippocratic oath...

Get well soon!!! :)

Did I hear mumblings about a contest which is not close enough for somebody's taste? ;-)

I think this is a great idea. Breathing new life into a challenge by adding a challenge within the challenge! It may be a challenge, but I am trying to find more junk to add to the new challenge! Kind of a mid-challenge "Twist".

Reckless, but exciting? Living on the edge :D

Edit: Adding corny motivational meme...
Edit2: This looks to be a horrible idea! The last two hours show us falling behind and fast!

Yep, it's now 162 M : 157 M, even though our output was above our own average during several hours this night. :-O

Edit, both Planet 3DNow! and SETI.Germany must have found some stops that wanted to be pulled in the last day. Especially Planet 3DNow!, their Thursday output exceeded Wednesday's quite some, unlike ours and SETI.Germany's.

It's all good! The new challenge has had me dig up anything worth digging around my abode!

Working on a 2013ish crab-apple now! 2 old cores are better than none!?

And my fine-refined local silicon now has voltage pumping through its veins! Overclocked to the very edge! At least those puters that have been abused before and with more than 4 cores... ;)
Get with the "program" everyone! It ain't over until someone starts singing!!!!

We reached halftime!

BTW, here are past and current halftime points:
15th B'day16th B'day17th B'day
all teams together788 M1,094 M644 M
TeAm AnandTech77 M178 M169 M

The drop in points from 2020's halftime to 2021's may look disappointing at first. But consider that all subprojects were counting in the previous years, not just mcm1 like now. And that way,
  • all users who weren't aware of the challenge gave full points too (this year, these users give only partial input if they happen to receive mcm1 by chance),
  • participants could select the subproject(s) which give most points/hour on their particular hardware, and there were, and are, several projects which gave/give better yield than mcm1,
  • the bunker loonies among us could bunker for up to 10 days upfront (this year, "only" 7 days).
