Okay... so I went to the waterpark with my ex. I drive all the way to the back of the lot and park like shown in the following pictures. I come back to my car later and find a ticket from the city of Madison Heights for improper parking (double parked). Damn... what a way to end an amazing day at the park trying to get things working again.

New host and both pictures

Oh yeah... don't forget to consider the shadows in both pictures.

I have to agree with werk, you're not quite in the space as you should be. However, you're not as bad as one truck I saw today, that saw it fit to park in a helicopter landing zone (the kind for medical emergencies and whatnot).

<Edit> Just saw the second photo, it's really iffy. You might be in the space, but from the angle that you parked, ..I dunno.

As far as I can tell, you were still within the lines, so you were legally parked.

Edit: But why the hell would you park that way? Common sense would say that it would bring trouble. (Of course, common sense isn't so common)

From the second pic your front right tire's on the line, then the front of the car juts out into the neighboring space. I think you're double parked.

I've seen dually trucks and jacked up trucks with 38" mud boggers sticking a foot outside the fenders that actually park between the lines. Why can't you park like a normal person? Do you feel cool parking diagonally?

It's not like someone else couldn't have parked there. I just think that this ticket was such bull...

Yea, they couldnt have parked there because of your damn car!

If i were a cop i woulda given you 2 tickets... One for double parking, and the other just for being an idiot.

Uh... I parked like that because it's brand new. I just bought the car Tuesday and I'm paying for it out of my own money. I'll be damned if that thing gets a door ding from someone that parks next to me. With the car on an angle within its own spot makes it harder to hit my car with a door.

Probably, but most people could probably park within 10 degrees of parallel to the lines as well. :D

edit:

So your intentions *were* to double park...?!?

I'm sorry to say that it looks like you're guilty as charged. Just pay the parking ticket and forget about it.

So your admitting you parked like that to keep someone from parking next to you. Well lets think about that for a minute, shall we...

That makes a lot of sense considering the car is over the line - did you think about the fact it's now easier to hit when someone else is pulling into that spot than it would be if it was actually parked normally? And that's what the plastic side guards on your doors are for.

Well then don't think of it as a parking fine, consider it an anti-ding investment.

I should have taken a picture of the Jaguar that was parked across... I think 3 parking spots perpendicular.

Rofl, once I went to my high school to take an SAT exam and some kid (maybe he was late?) decided to take his dads Ferrari F355 to the exam. He parked even worse than you- taking up no less than 2.5 spots (parked longitudinally in the spaces. No one wanted to park anywhere near him, and I guess he parked that way because he didnt want to get the car scratched. What a loser.
