ways to quiet down a dvd/cd burner?

I got this cd/dvd burner for my computer, thing runs fast, and fine, it just sounds like a chainsaw whenever I put anything in it to read. I'm talkin 6 times as loud as any fan in my computer, you have to turn up the volume on things to drown out the sound...it's really distracting....is there anyway to quiet it down.....here's the link to it:

did you flash to a new firmware that disables riplock? if you have nero, you can decrease the read speed with nero cd-dvd drive speed.

it's a fresh install of everything, new system and all....I suppose it could be the read speed, I haven't burnt any cd's or dvds with it yet, I've just been playing them, and it's Loud as heck.

RMA it. It probably was damaged during shipping, and/or has a bad bearing.

i have a 3500 and it's quite loud when it's reading at max speeds. it is because i flashed to a new firmware with riplock disabled. meaning, it can rip cds at maximum speeds.

I wonder if it is a bad bearing, I'll have to investigate...so can nero restrain the read speeds for teh drive at all times, or only when i'm using nero?
