Ways to add dropdown menus?

Hello everyone, i'm in need of some help. I'm looking for a way to add dropdown menus to an already existing menubar. Does anyone know of how to do this? I tried looking on some of the free javascript sites but it didn't help me too much. So say for example someone wanted to add a dropdown menu to the menu bar on the main page, or any menu bar for that matter, how would they go about doing so? Thanks for any help you can lend me.
