Ways the environment is being harmed by the Web Development field?

Ok, I don't normally do this, but I'm beating my head over this one. I have any assignment in one of my classes and I'm having a hard time thinking of topics to write about... Here is the assignment:

List and describe five (5) examples of how the environment is being harmed within or related to your area/major. Comment on how critical the need is for attention to protecting the environment. Locate sources, other than the text, which support and add to your position. Identify the sources; bibliographic reference; web site locations; URL, etc. such that it can be easily found.

My major/degree is a Bachelor in Technology with an Emphasis on Web Development (scripting/coding, networking, dbase design, graphics, network admin, EVERYTHING)... and I'm at a loss to how this could potentially harm the environment. I could see someone in a engineering or science degree harming the environment, but web development???

Any ideas guys?

You could make a huge generalization and say that web development will lead more peope into using computers, which in turn will eventually be tossed out into the environment.

Write about how your assignment is retarded and not everything harms the environment. What if you had been majoring in environmental science?

BTW, I know from experience that writing completely contrary to what the assignemnt is only gives you the oppurtunity to get two grades: A and F.

I would link in directly off of CubicZirconia said and talk about the amounts of nickel, magnesium, etc. that leech into the soil when a computer is thrown out in a regular landfill. Then talk about the special programs manufacturers like Dell and IBM have started to make sure computer equipment is disposed of properly without causing (or at least minimizing) harm to the environment.
