Good morning dear friends ,

Well since Wayland is evolving pretty good I am asking my self:

Will wayland completely replace Xorg?

Background:I saw that there were too many command line "x" tools made that interact with Xorg server. This is just a bit fancy to look at.

What do you think:Will wayland be capable to replace every single one? Or, is there a compatibilty layer - that said with full support that we will still be able to use all the X tools in the next few years?

Wayland tends to have subsystem "XWayland" that looks like X11 server for (some) X11 clients. Haowever, that is for applications.

Wayland is different from X11, so there is no need nor possibility to tweak it just like all the X11 server implementations. Obviously Wayland implementation should have its own set of tools.

Lets put it this way: when you were riding horses, you might have had spurs. Do you use spurs to inspire a Tesla run faster? New tech does not need all old tools (but might need some new).
