Can't remember the brand....pretty expensive....think they cooled an 800 or 850Mhz Athlon to 1 Ghz. I know, who cares...just trivia.

Was it Falcon Northwest?

Damn, some good memories there. I remember getting some huge heatsink with one of the those noisy fans. Had a speed controller for the CPU and case fans as in the 5.25" slot. Never built the courage to go water cooled.

Ah, good times.

I believe that was the thermal paste that everyone swore by. You needed that to go with the 2 story Thermaltake heatsink.

I remember when AMD hit 1GHz. Then Intel tried and failed with the P3. Good old days!

I had a slot A AMD 1ghz back in the day. Damn I used to think I was so cool.

I had a system with one of the first gen slot A Athlon 700 MHz chips. Damn, the drivers for that motherboard were flaky! I could never get the Mushkin memory in that thing to run stable at 133 MHz like it was supposed to, either. It always crashed and defaulted back to PC100.

I had a Step-Thermodynamics slot A Athlon that I believe ran at the magical 1GHz. I thought it was pretty neat at the time, but performance increases were coming so fast back then I think I only used that system for 6 months before upgrading again. Ahhh.... the bad old days. :)

Ah, those were the days. My first rig was a 1.4ghz Tbird. Overclocked that puppy to 1.6ghz! I think my cell phone's CPU runs faster than that now :D

People's first "real" build were in the 1Ghz range? Jesus I'm old.

I remember getting a Cyrix 133Mhz and thinking it was an incredible jump from my 66mhz.
Then later I got a Pentium Pro 200Mhz and was cock of the walk
Celeron 350A OC'ed to 400 in a Abit PH6
Then DUAL 350As @400 in a Abit BP6
Then I have no idea where I went from there. Maybe an OC'ed AMD TBird?

Tandy 2000 was my first pc. A pentium 90 mhz compaq frankenputer was my first build.

I'm 27 (not that old right) and grew up pretty poor. My first current gen performance build was the Q8200 OCed and now the FX.
