Way too hot?

I have an AMD T-Bird 1.33Ghz in an antec Sx-830. I'm using the Volcano II Thermaltake.

The readings i get in the bios and in MBM 5 is that the CPU is at 40 degrees usually idled. I did not overclock the CPU.
I haven't tried playing games yet and thinking running RC5.

Is (40 degrees) this temp a little too hot??!!! What other programs can I use to find out what the temp is when pushed to the max. And where can I get this program? What temp is too hot?

With a vocano 2, no its not way to hot. I had one and disliked it a lot, play your games and run your apps if you notice a problem or it freezes then take action. sysoft sandra has it buried within it somewhere to show you temps of your case and mobo. Think its under bios or mob.

What is your mobo, btw?

40 c sounds about right. I see higher idle temps for Athlon systems. As long as your system is stable, it really doesn't matter.

40C is fine... you don't have to worry about lockups or any problems until you hit about 55-60C... my computer was running fine a 60 last summer (i've made changes since then). When you starting getting around 65-70 then you should worry. But 40C is definitely in the safe zone.

No, it's fine. My friend has a 1.2 T-Bird with the Volcano II (actually my old proc and hsf) in an Asus A7V mobo, and it was 59C, non-oced. I know that socket thermistor temps aren't comparable and that Asus boards read higher temps than other boards but I got him some case-fans.
