Way to stop Firewire external HD from spinning down constantly?

Got an external seagate 7200.8 in an adaptec usb/firewire combo enclosure... I have all the power saving crap off and yet the sucker still spins down after like 5 minutes of no use. Very annoying. Anyone know how to stop this behavior?

FWIW, I have a second one in the same enclosure and it DOES NOT exhibit this behavior.

Check on the Properties of that drive under POLICIES tab, and make sure it is set for OPTIMIZE FOR QUICK REMOVAL and not performance.

I tried that as well, as I recall. It made no difference which performance option was selected.

I've resorted to leaving a small app run that accesses the drive on a fairly regular basis to keep it spinning. Not exactly the optimal answer to the problem, but...

Yeah - it could be the nature of that particular drive or enclosure - I have three 1394 externals, and have never seen a spin down.
