Way to shut off power saving features for one program?

So you want to like turn off the hard drive but only if a certain program isn't running. Let me know if this is possible because I don't think it is.
 
I don't want my computer to suddenly turn off the screen, th HD etc. while one program is running ...

And it is possible because Windows Media Player and Power DVD do it ....
