Way to remotly control computer speakers?

Is there a way to do this? The remote might not have a clear path to the computer but I want the sounds to play out of my main computers speakers, being as they are the best. I know the Audigy 2 Platinum has this (not sure if it works around corners though...), anyone else have an idea?
