i just got my copy of maximum pc and they told a reader that they should mount the fan on the heatsink to blow on the cpu
would that be a good idea?
i've got a 120 ystech fan blowing right over my vid card/cpu so which would be recommended?
thanks
i depends on the heatsink really. some heatsinks are made to have air pulled through them, others to have air blown onto them. but if you have a big fan blowing ONTO the heatsink, then you may as well have the heatsink fan going in the same direction, or else the two fans are fighting for the direction of the air
IT may work better for you that way, but in most cases, it works better pulling air away from the heatsink, since this is how Alpha designed their heatsinks(keep in mind that you need to use the shroud that came with it).
it depends, i have an alpha 6035 and it works better with it blowing onto it, that is because i have really low case temps, i have found that with warmer case temps sucking through is more efficiant but with cooler temps blowing onto it works best.
Not necessarily. I usually have caes temps in the 25C range, and my alpha's all work better pulling air through them.(Pep66, PAl6035, PFH6035). With various 60mm fans, as well.
Remember that how your airflow is setup effects this as well.
yes i do know, i forgot to mention that i have a blowhole dircted to my heatsink. and with blowing onto the heatsink i have found the temp to be cooler by 2C
i just change the position of my alpha fan, before that my fan in position sucking out, now i change to blowing in, and the result is the cpu temp is still the same, now i got the lower mobo temp in my system, before that my mobo temp around 28c, now is 23c, is it possible? but i also apply the artic silver termal compound in my cpu before i change the fan position, i dont know the effect come from artic silver or the fans position but that's is true
