According to a former Mossad Director Mr. Romney, who may very well be the Republican nominee could be making it more difficult to peacefully resolve the Iranian issue with their nuclear power program and dissuade them from turning part of it into a weapons program.

There are a few threads on this subject but when another authoritative voice speaks up on this issue and is warning a presidential candidate not to make the issue more difficult it warrants having attention brought to it.

from the article...

Efraim Halevy, who served as the director of Mossad in the early 2000s, responded to Romney's promises alleging that the article is effectively telling the Iranian regime to hurry up their atomic bomb building process, before the Americans elect a new president.

It is in our best interests to prevent Iran from seeing it as necessary to develop nuclear weapons. Rhetoric from people running for president about beefing up the presence of U.S. warships in the area, ironically does not do that. Someone who probably has seen more intelligence on the issue than we will probably ever hear of second is saying this.

We should listen.

This is bullshit. Obama will be all for attacking Iran...... after the election is over. The problem is that may be too late.

Meh, it's campaign time. What's a candidate supposed to do? When asked their foreign policy ideas they can't very well say "it's a secret, I don't want to tip off our enemies".

Even current politicians, like those in Congress who actually have some say in declaring war, feel free to spout off.

What was this guys opinion when the Obama admin (Panetta maybe?) announced the likely date for Israel's attack on Iran?

I haven't really noticed the Israelis keeping their mouths shut either.

Edit: Thread title is totally misleading. How warning against something is seen as actually encouraging that something is a stretch.

Are we to believe that between the election in Nov and swearing in a few months later Iran would be able to quickly throw together a nuke bomb?

The entire opinion is based on the assumption that the Iranian government is not already pursuing nuclear technologies as fast as they can - purposefully slowing themselves down in the hopes that Obama will find a way to make peace with them.
