I like the frogs idea. 100% natural.

2 weeks later:

Taggart: What's the best way to get rid of frogs? Thanks.

1) Take out the trash.
2) Don't leave food exposed to the open air.
3) Open windows.

Throw the rotten fruit out the window and close it after they follow ;)

Get a garbage bag, throw an apple core in there or something, wait overnight... sneak up to the bag the next morning and close it quickly. That'll get rid of a lot. Dont leave fruit in your garbage very long at all, always take it outside within a day or you'll be fsked.

Exactly. And fruit flies live ~2 weeks so any left will be dead by then.

Don't allow them to breed in water & fruit and they should all die of natural causes in 2 weeks :p

Look through ALL your cabinets and make sure you don't have any old potatos or fruit stashed anywhere.

Invariably, if I notice a lot of little fruit flies in the house, it's due to rotting food.

I had the same problem and I am finally down to just having a few near my sink. It took me forever but I found a champagne bottle right near where I keep my recycling. There must have been a little left in there because there were a ton of flies in there. Once I got rid of that and the rest of my trash they started going away.

Catch as many as you can and put them in a conical tube with appropriate media. Start counting varieties like mad. Publish a paper on drosophila genetics.

Very easy. Just put an open glass of vinegar around the general area. Flies will kamakazie into the glass since they are attracted to vinegar. :)

Make sure there's no fruit sitting in the garbage can or elsewhere in the house. I had a bit of a problem with fruit flies just recently and that was the reason they were hanging around the house. Once I got rid of the trash, I haven't seen them since.
