Way to get into music

I have been a cellist for about 4 years and I need a change. I think that I wanna start doing hip-hop beats or elctronic music or start scratching. What is a good way to get started with making electronic music? Should I get a good sequencing package and use my soundcard, or get a small keyboard with my soundcard. Or should I buy a standalone keyboard?
