I just got my VIVO video card RMA replacement, a GF4 TI4400. Anyway... how do we work VIVO? I want to plug it into Echostar Satelite service to start recording music video's. Is it just straight forward to plug my computer into the output video and sound of my receiver and hit the record button? (I lost the manuals).

Thanks 🙂

You need to make sure that you instal the VIVO drivers. I think they are avialable on nvidia's website, if not go to the card maker. You then need to make sure you have capture software instaled.
Hope that helps

I might be getting a similar card in the future ,would like to know too🙂 (yeah this is just a disguised bump😉)

Btw have you also posted this thread over at the GH forum?

There should be some VIVO drivers, which should include an application.

From there, it's probably a case of hooking up the Composite/S-Video (S-Vid preferred, MUCH better image quality 🙂) and the sound to the Line In of the soundcard, open up the program, select the res/FPS you want to record at, and hit record 🙂

As for the VO, under the nVidia drivers, there'll be an option to Clone the main display (nView display settings), and select the 2nd monitor as the TV 🙂

Confused

I didn't post this in GH, after a few times of posting help threads in there nobody had answers... given they were much harder questions though.

S-Video is the method this card will take input, and me receiver has that type of output. So I am not worried about that. I am more concerned with the Ulead software that came with the card. After trying out a couple peices of their software in the past. It was never easy to use, nor that powerful either. The software that came with the card is VideoStudio 6. I never heard of it... hope it is easier to use and more powerful than the other stuff I used in the past.

I must get a bigger hard drive though... I do not think I will get too many recordings with my ¾ full 40GB HD.

For video capture (I make VCDs & sVCDs) I would use a free tool like VirtualDub
It's absolutely superb and not that tricky to use, it may not support your card though as it uses VFW not WDM.

Check out the tools section at DVDRhelp.
Lots of other good free capture programs and lots of good advice on video/audio capture.

🙂

cheers,

Col
