Way of getting to main menu through console in TF2?

My friend's ESC key is broken which is the only way I know of to get the say the main menu in TF2 to mute people and change settings while in game. Do you know of any console commands that can allow him to do so?

Not sure of any commands but couldn't he remap the key when starting up TF2?

Disconnect would do it, but it defeats the purpose...

just go buy a new $10 keyboard, they are pretty cheap.

In the olden days of say Quake you could just go into the config file and map any key to any command. I have not done that since the olden days so I dont know how the configs for these new games are handled.

hitting the console key should take you to the menu with the console up... just X out of the console window

or you could try typing "bind esc" (or whatever the "code" for escape is) in the console and see what it's bound to, then bind another key to that.

OK, I'm back on a computer with TF2. Escape is bound to "cancelselect" by default. Try binding another key to that, see if it works (bind p "cancelselect").

like someone said above, enable the console and hit the key (default is "`" or tilde).
