Way more cpu usage than normal...

For the past few days I've been having weird problems with my pc that may or may not be processor related. All I know is that the processor spikes to 100% when just a browser is up and it's really slow when it scrolls... like the page refreshes when it scrolls it seems like. I checked the ram and that's fine, I tried a new vid card and it still does it. I've checked the cpu and it's not overheating and I'm not overclocking. I tried disabling coolnquiet with no change. Is my cpu dying? Mobo problems? Is my psu on it's way out? I have no idea and have no way to test these things.

how much ram do you have? any programs that would cause this would seem to relate to spyware/adware. did you scan for those?

try downloading throttlewatch (i think thats what its called) and see if your cpu is throttling.

good luck!

I have 1gig pc3200 ram. I thought I had a virus causing a problem so I reinstalled windows this morning(was time anyways) and it's still acting funny. I'll try out that program though and see, thanks for the suggestion.

Sometimes, my cpu usages spikes up every few minutes (very very noticable when I'm playing games as there is a brief pause) and it really pisses me off. The way I solved this was by reinstallling Windows again. But I'm pretty sure you should make that your last resort. Check your computer for spyware and things of that sort. They can screw you over real bad, like me...

Well whatever was wrong before is finally right now (phew!). I reinstalled cpu drivers and SP2 and now all is right w/ things... I hope. Now to go through the grueling task of getting all my programs and junk up and running again.
