Wavy lines (seemingly interference) in some 3d games

I recently upgraded my machine to win xp pro and a gf3 ti-500 (pny/leadtek). Ever since then, many games seem to exhibit what looks like TV-style interference, especially in 1024x768. This is particularly noticeable in DAoC and Wizardry 8.

I've tried moving the speakers away, moving cards further away in the motherboard, and plugging it into a clean (filtered by UPS) power supply.. nothing seems to help. What are some likely culprits here? Is it possible this is a driver issue or something that can be tweaked? I run my games in 1024x768 usually.

I got exact same thing wgen I upgraded my V5 to the wrong drivers. Might be a driver issue.

Thanks guys.

Is vsync something you can set in the drivers? Don't know what I have it set to - can you tell me which I SHOULD set it to?

My "desktop" refresh rate is 100hz. I don't know what the games are running at - I actually looked for this but couldn't figure out a way to tell the ti-500 which refresh rate to use.

The problem with upgrading drivers is that... they are broken. The latest nvidia xp drivers are notoriously terrible. Civ3 and DAoC in particular have major problems (the latter gives a BSOD a large chunk of the time).

You will need a tweaking program to turn vsync on or off or you can search your registry for any vsync entries. As for refresh rates. Does your monitor have an info button or a on screen menu? My monitor on screen menu displays the current refresh rate.

I just got a Visiontek Ti200 and I also had problems with wavy lines. I figured it was the notorious bad Nvidia GeForce 2D rearing its ugly head (I used to have a Voodoo5 and didn't have this problem). I changed my refresh rate from "Optimal" to "85 Hz" (under Display -> Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter) and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Hope this helps.
