I just got my 2005FPW yesterday. There is no dead pixel and there is just very slight backlight on top of the screen. I was like this is a keeper. Then, I notice on the left side of the screen there are wavy lines going up the screen constantly(about 2 inches width on the left side). However, you only notice it when I am using certain colors as background. The most noticeable is dark gray.

Do you think it is normal? I called Dell and the tech guy said use it one more day. If it is still there, we will see if we should replace it. What do you guys think.

Forgot the detail. I am using ATI X800XL. So, I connected the LCD to DVI.

Pics can't tell since you can only tell by looking at the movement of the lines.

I just want to make sure it is not my video card. The tech guy will call me again tonight at 10PM CDT and he should let me RMA it. Thx.

Last night he kept saying I don't think there is anything wrong with the LCD. Everything is working fine. It could be your video card. I hope he won't give me any other excuses tonight.

if you're using it with DVI, try hooking it up to the VGA and look for this movement.
it sounds like RMA time, though.

Yeah, I think I will try that tonight. However, I don't think it is a video card problem. I will try it to be sure though. Thx!

Are you serious??? How does it look on your screen?

I RMA it last night and getting a replacement. I hope it is just the monitor and not the video card.

can you check the LCD out on another computer? Did you try it on VGA?

My another computer is so old...it only has a 32M video card. So, I don't think it will work that well...I might just give it a try tonight even if I can't do 1680 x 1050. At least I can see if the wavy lines are still around.

I tried my monitor with the vga interface. Once I did that, wavy lines are going from top to bottom. If I use DVI, it goes from bottom to top.

EDIT: But I am doing dual right now. My 19 Sony CRT has no wavy lines whatsoever. Does it mean my video card is OK.

Not necessarilly, your DVI could be bad, but if you've checked both DVI and VGA w/ the same card, and a second monitor with the same card, and found that the other monitor works fine, odds are it's the screen.

Yep, that is what I thought too. I tried the LCD with VGA of the same card, there is wavy lines. But not the CRT. So, I bet it is the LCD.

www.xfire.com - on the left side in the blue area I can see the lines really bad. how about you? I plugged in the monitor with VGA to a laptop and I did not see the lines. I think something is wrong with the DVI. I don't know to return it or if its something that I can fix.

I am very frustrated. I got my replacement yesterday and it is even worse. Not only on the left hand side, the middle has wavy lines as well.

I tried "Reduced DVI Frequency" setting on my ATI X800XL and nothing has changed. I talked to JustinSane45 and his situation is the same that the replacement he got was worse than his original. I just called Dell and they are sending me another replacement. Any other suggestions. Is it a video card issue or monitor issue. I still think it is a monitor issue. I would really appreciate if any of you have any suggestions.

Thanks
