Hi all, been looking around for some help on this issue, haven't had any luck so far.
I'm running an old Celeron II-based HP pc, and I've got one major problem: major visual noise onscreen. I'm getting all sorts of wavy patterns onscreen, and they seem to get worse when there is heavy disk activity. Here are the technical details:
CPU: Celeron II (Deschutes) @ 533 MHz
MOBO: HP proprietary, for Pavilion 6635, based on Intel i810 chipset
RAM: 192 MB PC100
Video card: (in use) nVidia Vanta LT 16 MB PCI, in bottom of three slots; (not in use) Intel i810 inbuilt)
Monitor: Viewsonic Pro series P95f+ CRT, tested with other sources, does not have problems otherwise
Sound card: (in use) Chaintech AV-710, in middle of three PCI slots; (not in use) Intel i810 inbuilt AC97 codec
Network card: SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX), in top of three PCI slots
Attempts to use the Vanta in either the middle or the top slot have resulted in failure to complete POST. Have tried various resolutions/refresh rates w/no improvement.
Any suggestions would be most helpful.
