Wavebird/classic contorller

Wavebird: The main analog stick should not spin freely should it? I bought one off amazon used and they did mention this at all. Another one I got does not. I can't remember against the one I used to have (and stupidly sold...). It works fine otherwise, just very annoying if you're moving quickly.

Classic: anyone buy the grips that come with it? I've kinda realized it's silly to go hunting and paying more than retail for the wavebirds. Even though it is far more comfortable, I think I could deal w/ the classic if it's the 3rd party grips aren't utter crap.

I'm pretty sure the wavebird stick shouldn't spin, but I don't have mine with me to check. I really like the layout of the classic controller I would skip the grips myself.

I like it for everything but games that primarily use the analog stick. it's a bit too low. Which is the primary reason I was asking about the grips. Maybe I'll make my own.. hah.

I also wish nintendo would let you customize the damn thing for ALL games.

Thanks for the analog stick confirm... now hopefully I can get my money back.. arg.

I feel otherwise - I'm definitely willing to pay more to reduce cable clutter. Granted, I've got more consoles than most people... but if I've got 20 controllers lying around, the last damn thing in the world I want is to have them physically tethered in a mess of wires.
