wav to vbr-mp3's anyone?

I am covnerting SHN files to MP3. Going to Wav is easy enough, but hte tool im using doesn't convert wav to variable bit rate MP3s.

Anyone have a tool to do this?

I dont know what a SHN is but CDex can convert WAV to MP3.

Do either of these convert to VBR-MP3? I want to do variable bit rate.

I jsut DLed Exact Audio Copy whcih is supposed to handle this, but I'm still tring to figure it out.

I use EAC to rip, LAME to encode. There's an app called RazorLAME that is the frontend I use for encoding, but it still goes through LAME. Just set it to --alt-preset standard and off I go.

OMG, I jsut found this:

it is insane! It uses vog-orbis and it is a drag and drop program where you jsut pull a wave file into the drop in box and it automatically starts encoding to your pre-set settings to the directory where the wav file exists.

Of course, it is ogg, but I can see why people like it. It's a variable bit rate lossles compression utility. I don't mind ogg It works in foobar.

Still wish I had MP3 files, but I think i'll survive.

EDIT: I know it's not what I asked for, but it accomplishes my goal. To save disk space

Dont knock oggs. You can use them in UT2004 and some other video games.

Download the latest LAME codec and put the lame.dll file in the CDex directory. Oh yeah, use CDex!

easy as pie. set one of the -alt presets. google it. i use -alt preset extreme
no other settings after u enter that into the custom line
