Watts used determined by the size of PSU, or devices?

As stated, how much power are you really charging up on the electric bill? I have a 430watt psu, and am I always drawing 430watts of power from the outlet? If not, then how is it determined? My system by far doesnt reach 430watts, but I purchased it as that was the lowest one avaliable. Thanks for reading 🙂

your draw is mostly your devices. the bigger power supplies usually draw a bit more power themselves

Thanks for the fast reply. But just about how much more would a 430psu draw more for itself compared to a 300watt psu?

A 430W PSU may be more efficient than a 300W PSU - therefore wasting less power.

Most PC PSUs are about 70-75% efficient - meaning that a high-end PC needing 120W for the internal components would draw 160-170W from the mains. The difference being wasted as heat in the PSU.
