Intel vs. AMD which one wins when it comes to heat? A friend wants a cool (and quiet) computer that has a decent amount of power.

Is there a side by side chart comparison of desktop and mobile CPUs?

I don't have any charts handy, but based on what I've seen/read I'd say that for power consumption, X2>C2D>Barcelona>Penryn on a similarly-performing machine. Mobile chipsets intel has the clear advantage in both perf and power consumption at present, and that should only get more pronounced as santa rosa ramps up.

No, they more or less confirm the same thing; AMD's lower voltage BE CPUs are pretty good but use more power than Intel's 800MHz FSB C2D based processors under load, the standard C2Ds beat the standard 65nm AMD Brisbanes and the 90nm 3GHz+ A64s uses as much power as Intel's quad-cores.

Don't forget to add the northbridge\memory controller to Intel's numbers.
