Try some cold weather commercial fishing/crabbers gloves.
Atlas 460

Combine with merino wool glove liners for extra warmth.

For simple hikes and scrambling, they'd probably be fine. For real mountaineering with ropes, and ice axes and shit, you should probably spend the $$$ for more specific equipment.

One set of gloves that I did not mention were my outdoor research gloves I picked up earlier this fall on a closeout sale. You should be able to still find a pair or two on amazon or elsewhere.

I have not tried them for sledding, but they are FAR too warm for sledding after putting them on just once, but I am going to take the removable thermal liner out and use just the waterproof shell this season as a spare set.

Here are some pics I posted on SnoWest forums in a glove thread, comparing them to my Klim togwotee gloves.

They are a bit big (and like I said, extremely warm), but they are goretex and should be waterproof enough for snowmobiling.

They are normally $300+ gloves, and are almost out of stock on all sizes. They do have XL size in stock in Tan for $93, get a set while you can -
