watercooling newbie....how to begin?

Hi.....as you can all see, my 3.0c is at 3.5 ight now on air...
but i want to push it a little higher, and at the same time make my systen quieter that it is now...

watercooling seems the logical choice, but i have no experience in choosing these components....pumps and heatblocks and all that stuff...

is there something along the lines of a kit that includes everything you need to watercool your system?
or is it a better idea to buy individual components.
also, how much would it cost to cool my northbridge and cpu (not currently interested in gpu cooling)

Try www.dangerden.com, they have some good info for noobs and a lot of high quality equipment options. Chipset blocks will usually run an extra 30 - 40$.

woah...$380 for the complete kit.....didn't think it'd be that high

i guess it'll have to wait till after my next gpu upgrade...unless kits can be bought for less

You can go for less - I went with a Corsair Hydrocool for $205 shipped. Doesn't chill your northbridge, but that shouldn't be an issue with the reduced case temps you get. Installed in less than an hour and the only thing you need is some distilled water. Instructions were pretty good - just read completely and do a dry run of the install first. The dangerden kits do work better but can be very expensive and time consuming to install. The Hydrocool dropped my temps by close to 10 degrees under load.

your best bet for a beginner setup is get:

Spiral block $25 Text
Chevette Heatercore $25-30 Autozone
Via 1300 Pump $20 pet store


then add in 120mm fan, tubing, water additives you should amke it under 120ish

Radiator and shroud $40

Pump $29

Maze 3 block $42

Plus tubing

yes the reserator looks hot, and it'd look even hotter next to my blue xaser tower. i'd get it if it weren't $300

gotta figure out if everything will fit in my case though
