Watercooling:eheim 1250 and PRS: do I need to split the power cable?

Hi I have an eheim 1250 and the same PRS as seen here. However I'm a bit unsure what to do to power it, it seems as if I need to split the power cord to connect the endings, but is there another way? Seems like such a hack job...

Also... the PRS has some external power adapter... am I supposed to plug something into that one too? If the power is already connected to the PS then what's the point of this?

Thanks for your help.

Yeah but I have an eheim... this thing consumes 28 watts (hour?) never the less I'm not one to waste power especially since I don't use my system 24/7.

any one have a similar rig... I'm on my way to splitting it,but I feel like I'm ruining it. Can some one else help?
