Watercooling a laptop

Has anyone come up with a watercooling solution for laptops? Maybe I'm being naive but it doesn't seem that difficult to engineer. Rather then water, coolant could be used. The lid could have small fins on it to allow the coolant to release some heat. A little pump would push the coolant around the system. Would that work?

Why ?

Last thing I want to carry on a plane is water and a pump and telling the guy its not explosives

Why would you carry water and a pump on board? It would be a closed system like a car's coolant and radiator system. The pump would be built into the laptop and ork off of the battery.

I know someone that did it unintentionally and lost everything. Let's just say seawater is bad for computers. Very bad. ;)

Surely its a viable solution to having massively hot mobile Nvidia and ATI gPU's and their airplane sounding fans.

You own a notebook for its portability not to carry around extra weight ... coolant + pump + radiator are all excess weights..

with the liquid explosives today and the great sony battery, they'll make sure that thing is emptied out before boarding

Ha! Seen that quite a few times myself.

It would draw more on the battery, maybe thats why.

Another dumb idea. The idea is to make laptops lighter and more transportable on airlines. They are a working tool for people who earn a living - not toys for kids sponging off their parents. So, why not consider a closed freon or RC-34 coolent system? COnsider the power it takes to keep the pumps running.
