Watercoolers, at what rate does your loop evaporate water ?

Hola,

I use a tube res in my loop and have been noticing the rate at which my system loses water. I keep my res topped out and through every three week span or so I see a slow accumulation of tiny bubbles at the top leading to about a 1/3 of a cm of water loss by the three week mark.

I've been wondering if I have a slow leak somewhere, but have checked and checked again and cannot find any leaks in my hose, rads, pump or fittings.

Does this sound like a normal amount of water loss. I understand there is some loss of moisture through your hose and other factors at play.

Thanks.

In a 5 1/4 bay res I loose about 4-5mm a year. Bare in mind my loop is sealed completely, and presumably so is yours so there should be very minimal loss. You have a slow leak.

Filled my single bay reservoir to the brim since I've built the rig when IB came out. Probably about 350ml when I first filled it, have yet to go below the 300ml mark. A rough guess would be 325ml.

Very, very little. I check it once in a while but when I look it's still full. I only gotta add water when I mess around with a MB swap for the most part. I just swing my loop out of the way which twists one hose on a rad and makes it drip a little bit. I just use the XSPC mini res mounted about 2 inches above my pump. It's next to the side of my case so I just look thru the holes to see it. I guess maybe it has dropped about a 1/32" from the last time I messed with it a couple of months ago.

I don't think you have a leak at all. Some of my systems would lose 1/3 cm every month. I would top off every 6 months.

But if you're wary, here's what happened to me.

Back when I used my Swiftech Microres, I noticed a lot of drop off. Over a period of 6 months, I might've lost 1/3 of the reservoir.

This was not because of a slow leak. It was because I didn't screw the top cap of the reservoir on completely. The constant motion of the water (24/7 machine) at higher than room temperature levels would cause evaporation, which would leak through my top cap, lowering my water levels quite quickly.

TLDR: Check your fill-ports and caps to see if they're sealed completely.

They don't, same loops running for 2.5 years.

I'm really thinking of going for some record. I've upgraded from a q9550 to a 2500k without draining.
