Watercooled Power supply

Just reading I ran across a new powersupply from Koolance. 1200 watt big boy. What makes it interesting is it doesnt use waterblock, nope instead everything in the powersupply is immersed in fluid.

"The PSU-1200ATX-12S features 85A over four 12V rails, modular cables, and 4 PCI-Express connectors for SLI and CrossFire support. It is able to unleash 1200W of continuous (1400W peak) power at greater than 80% efficiency by operating in a completely submerged state. This patent-pending design is superior to even "partly" liquid cooled and heatpipe power supplies. All internal electronics are immersed in a non-conductive fluid and dissipated through an external heat exchanger."

Edit: I do hope it reviews well. At 700W output it might be able to be near silent.

I'll pass. I'd rather have dual PSU's. I mean...a powersupply full of water...? That sounds like a horrible idea. If something goes wrong, bye bye to the ENTIRE system.

ummmm... this shows how little you know about water. As soydios said, DI-Water = non conducting.

And yeah i had a leak b4 due to a faulty DD barb. And my system is still running fine after i cleaned and replaced the barb.

Didn't read the article, just pulled a bit of info out of it.

But from what I've been told, deionized water doesn't stay completely deionized for very long. Even DI water used in labs becomes even a little bit ionized after contact with certain metals.

ummmm, yes the water gets charged after picking up dust and such, but by the time it does that, you should of realized you had a leak. Its not hard finding a leak if you use UV dye and have 1 UV CCL. When you see something glow in a blot from a glance, and believe me it stands out really bright! you'll know to shut down and wipe and fix the leak.
