Waterbed Frame + Regular Mattress

I bought a nice queen size waterbed 5 years ago (~$800).

In two months, I?ll be moving into an apartment where no waterbeds are allowed. When I originally bought the waterbed, the guy mentioned they had mattresses that would fit in the waterbed frame. Has anyone tried this and liked the results? Should I ditch the waterbed frame and buy a real bed? I paid a lot for it and feel bad when I think about having to sell it.

Wouldn't it be hard to keep the sheets from getting too loose? With a waterbed, the weight of the water against the frame keeps the sheets intact. But if you put a regular mattress in there, I would think that the sheets would slip out every night and be uncomfortable. Hmmm...

I was in a similar situation... Had a queen size waterbed, and couldn't take it to the new apartment, so I got the queen matress and box spring. It worked out just fine.

I had a waterbed and hated it. So I put a regular matress in there. It worked fine. I was having wild sex in the bed everynight, so the sheet thing didn't matter much. I just duct taped a slip-n-slide to the mattress. It's all good.

Can any boxspring/mattress fit or do they need to be made to fit inside the frame?
